Pretty sweet, I didn't realize it wasn't the full show but hey what we got here is sizzling. Love Garcia licks in Let it Grow!

have to agree about this first set
this first set is pure magic. Jerry is in peak form, esp RoR and PeggyO. I never post reviews, but this one is totally worth it! New-found appreciation

for Let it Grow, maybe since it was not in context of the suite, but mainly because Jerry takes them on a quick yet FAR-OUT-ORBIT (only to have Bobby bring it back too soon) Found this one randomly on YouTube and it just blew me away.
All NYE runs were special. But not only is this the best overall run of them all, this is the best show of the run. It's the darndest most consistent

fire-smokin'-poppin'-hazing-snappin'-jukin'-slappin'-joltin'-zappin' thing ever. First Set. The set is sterling. Note that Mississippi Half-Step has two brief skips [@~4:52>5:00] on all SBD sources, so use the great Tobin MTX or great Sandy Troy AUD. Other notes: One of two repeats, Looks Like Rain is better than the previous night. Row Jimmy flows on a good tempo. Big River is the burning bush, the burning fire and the bleedin' volcano. Peggy-O is just crazy good. Passenger is the only semi-clunker. Let it Grow has several high moments. Second Set. Even more consistent that the first set and one of the best second sets of the era. There are huge jam sections in Samson & Delilah. Ship of Fools keeps the good tempo, pushing into a potent Estimated that then has a delicious end jam. Eyes just has so many good parts and goes into an original jam [the OFF has a 47sec cut @13:27]. The stomper version St. Stephen is a skull blower. All players are animated for U.S. Blues. The other repeat is Good Lovin', though not quite as good as the night before. A short set for the era, actually. But a show that warrants an annual listen. And don't forget the previous night, which is essentially as good. 1st Set: A 2nd Set: A Overall = 5 stars Highlights: Almost all SOURCES: The 139536_sbd-patched_miller is the upgrade and has been repitched, mostly patched, and has complete tunings. The GEMS source has a speed error. Some sources are partial. The dp_leftovers_20009 is a generation from a bricked source. Dick's 10 has Estimated, St. Stephen, Sugar Magnolia, and an edited Eyes (levels & balance are a bit wonky). A B&W video tape reel is usually up on YouTube, unpatched and with edited tunings.

A Continuation
Friday's show was a continuation of the previous night, Thursday, the all-time epic. It takes over in much the same intensity -- just different setlists.

Garcia is totally on fire. Easily as good in certain inexplicable ways, save Garcia goes completely insane on numerous occasions. I tend to think, after the three shows (on the 27th, the 29th and this one), that the guy had blown his wad and never entirely recaptured it for 3 performances in a row. Anyway, not as hot as this. Jerry was phleshing out the corn rows and the band was threshing right along side. 100 star rating.

There are a million best versions of those great 2nd setters. Try on some funky, gritty first set classics here and love what you got! Grab the gold and run. Okay, this would be 5 if it weren't for the pay for play songs missing. I'm going to buy it.. too bad i couldn't just buy this whole show though. Its really annoying to have them break up the runs into the DP. As far as consumer products go the DP collection is classy and top notch. As a totally selfish whole show listener though it breaks up the ability to get it a classic set start to finish.

There are only 4 songs from 12.30.77 on DP10! Most of the songs on that release are from 12.29.77. Any chance you're able to put the rest of them up?
